The Icelandic quirky comedy Under The Tree directed by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson will open in the Irish Film Institute on Friday 10th August with tickets going on sale on Monday 6th August.

When Baldwin and Inga’s next-door neighbours complain that a tree in their backyard casts a shadow over their sundeck, what starts off as a typical spat between neighbours in the suburbs unexpectedly and violently spirals out of control.

The film premiered at the highly prestigious Venice Film Festival last year and was nominated for the festival’s Horizon’s Award for Best Film.  Since then has been accumulating awards at festivals all over the world including Fantastic Fest (Jury Award Best Director, Comedy Feature), Austin Fantastic Fest (Best Director Comedy Features) and Denver International Film Festival (Best Film).

It screened at the Audi Dublin International Film Festival earlier this year and has received international critical praise.

Wildcard Distribution are releasing the film in Irish cinemas with the support of the Creative Europe Programme – MEDIA.
