CODA Nominated for Annie Award
The makers of the Irish animated short CODA had more reason to celebrate today as their film picked up a nomination for Best Animated Short at the forthcoming Annie Awards. After being shortlisted for an Academy Award last month and winning Best Animated Short at SXSW back in March, it’s further well-deserved recognition for CODA, which is directed by Alan Holly and stars Brian Gleeson (Standby) and Orla Fitzgerald (The Guarantee).
The Annie Awards have been presented annually since 1972 by the International Animated Film Association and have grown from a ceremony celebrating lifetime achievements in animation to one encompassing a full list of individual awards across thirty-six categories.
Other Irish nominees at this year’s awards include the feature film Song of the Sea from Kilkenny’s Cartoon Saloon studio which garnered an impressive seven nominations including Best Animated Feature and Best Director, and Dublin’s Brown Bag Studios, with two nominees in the Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production For Preschool Children category.
The winners of the 42nd annual Annie Awards will announced on January 31st.
