GOLD Opens in Cinemas Throughout Ireland Tomorrow

Offbeat comedy-drama GOLD will hit cinemas in Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Limerick from tomorrow Friday October 10th.

The second feature from director Niall Heery (Small Engine Repair), GOLD features hilarious and heartfelt performances from a cast that includes rising star Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), David Wilmot (Calvary), Kerry Condon (The Runway) and James Nesbitt (The Hobbit).

The story begins as Ray (Wilmot) returns to his home town and re-enters the lives of Alice (Condon) and Abbie (Willams), the girlfriend and daughter he walked out on years before. With little more than a car and a couch to his name (both of which have seen better days) perpetual loser Ray moves in with his estranged family in an attempt to begin making up for a lifetime of mistakes, but his tentative efforts at reconciliation are thwarted by tracksuit-wearing nemesis Frank, his former PE teacher and the new father figure in the household.

As cross-country runner Abbie gears up for her big race, and Ray spars with the fanatical Frank, director Heery (who co-wrote the film with his brother Brendan) expertly blends eccentric comedy and genuinely emotive drama in a film that recalls the work of American indie maestros Wes Anderson and Alexander Payne.
