Irish Short Film Blight Wins Award At Fantasporto Festival

Brian Deane’s Blight has picked up the Best Short Film Award at the world renowned horror and sci-fi festival Fantasporto in Portugal.

The film follows a priest who is summoned to a remote Island to help save the life of a young girl who is being tortured by a sinister entity. The short was written by Matthew Roche and was produced by Anna O’Malley for TW Films Ltd through the Irish Film Board’s Signatures short film scheme.  It stars George Blagden, Alicia Gerrard, Joe Hanley, Marie Ruane, Matthew O’Brien and Tristan Heanue.

The short is also screening at the Cleveland International Film Festival, The International Sci-Fi and horror Film festival in Phoenix, Belfast International Film Festival, Irish Film Festival Boston, Dingle International Film Festival and Dead by Dawn International Film Festival in Edinburgh over the coming month.
