Life’s a Breeze, the new Lance Daly “recession comedy” which stars Pat Shortt, Fionnula Flanagan and newcomer Kelly Thornton, will open in Irish cinemas today.

Telling the story of a family’s race against time to claim a lost fortune, it also stars Eva Birthistle, Gerry McCann, Philip Judge, Lesley Conroy, Peter Coonan, Brian Gleeson and Paul Ronan with cameos by television and radio personalities Ryan Tubridy and Joe Duffy.

Patrick O’Neill, Chief Executive, Wildcard Distribution describes the film as a “fun, feel-good family comedy in the vein of Little Miss Sunshine and The Snapper, and we hope it will be loved by audiences of all ages throughout Ireland.”

Following its sold-out world premiere screening at the Galway Film Fleadh, Kelly Thornton picked up the Bingham Ray Newcomer award for her role in the film. Commenting on the film Gar O’Brien, Programmer at the Galway FIlm Fleadh said:

“Lance Daly’s latest is that rarest of things: a feel-good comedy that actually delivers on its promise. Featuring inspired performances from Fionnula Flanagan, Pat Shortt, Eva Birthistle and newcomer Kelly Thornton, Life’s a Breeze proves that, though the country may be bollox’d, there’s still plenty to smile about in this life-affirming comedy.”

Life’s A Breeze is in cinemas across Ireland from July 19th.
