The beautiful animated family film Moon Man from the Oscar nominated producers of The Secret of Kells, Cartoon Saloon, will be landing in Irish and UK cinemas just after Christmas from 27th December.

The man on the moon is bored. One day, he hitches a ride to Earth on the tails of a passing comet — an “attack from outer space” that sets the alarm bells ringing in the President’s headquarters — and starts to explore the fantastical creatures and sights of a new planet. But all is not well — the Moon Man’s absence from his post means that all the world’s children are unable to sleep. Before the President can capture him, they must join forces to return him to his rightful place in the sky.

Based on a book by the acclaimed children’s illustrator Tomi Ungerer, Moon Man is a lively and off-beat feature directed by Stephan Schesch and Sarah Clara Weber that showcases the stunning artwork of Ungerer’s original book which was first published in 1966.

Moon Man’s voice cast includes well known Irish actors Michael McElhatton (The Game of Thrones, The Fall) and Pat Laffan (probably best known for playing Mr Burgess in The Snapper and Father Ted’s Pat Mustard) along with The Undertone’s singer and TodayFM DJ, Paul McLoone.

The Irish/French/German co-production was produced by Ross Murray and Paul Young for Cartoon Saloon (The Secret of Kells) in Ireland along with Schesch Filmkreation and Le Pacte.

Moon Man will also go on release in cinemas (with the support of multi-service agency Coffee & Cigarettes) throughout the UK from December 28th.

The film is a perfect Christmas treat for families in Ireland and the UK searching for some heart-warming, festive fun.
