Moonlight Wins Best Picture at the Oscars

Moonlight has taken the top prize at this years Oscars ceremony winning the award for Best Picture. Mahershala Ali won the coveted Best Supporting Actor award and the film won for Best Adapted Screenplay. These wins come just weeks after Moonlight took home the Best Picture award at the Golden Globes.

Moonlight is a timeless story of human self-discovery and connection which chronicles the life of a young black man from childhood to adulthood as he struggles to find his place in the world while growing up in a rough neighbourhood of Miami.

Barry Jenkins directed this coming of age masterpiece which stars Alex Hibbert, Ashton Sanders, Mahershala Ali, Naomi Harris, Trevante Rhodes. The film has been praised by critics and audiences alike receiving five star reviews with the Irish Times calling it “a near-perfect film” while says it’s “astounding”.
