Wildcard features Patrick’s Day and Gold will both screen at the forthcoming Irish Film Festa in Rome, which takes place from the 26th to the 29th of March.

This is the 8th edition of the festival, which is held at the Casa del Cinema in Villa Borghese and aims to promote the full spectrum of Irish film-making today, including shorts, documentaries, and feature films.

Patrick’s Day is the second film from the indefatigable Terry McMahon (who’s already talking about future projects) and features a star-making (and Shooting Star winning) turn from Moe Dunford as the titular Patrick, a sheltered young man with mental health issues whose life is turned upside down when he falls in love for the first time.

Gold also features a future superstar in the form of Maisie Williams, who’s already conquered the small screen with her fan-favourite role as Arya Stark on HBO’s Game of Thrones, and is set to bolster her nascent film career with an acclaimed turn in Carol Morley’s The Falling, which will screen at this month’s Jameson Dublin International Film Festival.

The Irish Film Festa will announce its full lineup on (appropriately enough) the 17th of March.
