The Queens Film Theatre in Belfast is to host a Q&A with director Brendan J Byrne, following a screening of Bobby Sands: 66 Days on Saturday the 6th of August at 6.20pm. The Q&A will be chaired by political columnist and commentator Alex Kane.

The documentary is a portrait of the Irish Republican’s 66-day hunger strike. Seeing himself as a soldier in a conflict, Bobby Sands starved for the right to be recognised as a political prisoner. The documentary uses diary entries, archive news footage, custom animation and dramatic reconstruction to depict Sands’ incarceration and set his actions within a wider political and historical context.

The film will run at the cinema based at Queen’s University from Friday August 5 until Thursday August 18.
