Return to Montauk is released in Irish cinemas from October the 6th. The release follows on from an official selection at Berlin International Film Festival earlier this year.
Return to Montauk marks the debut of celebrated novelist, essayist and dramatist Colm Tóibín as a screenwriter. Directed by Volker Schlöndorff (The Tin Drum, The Handmaid’s Tale, Swann in Love), the film tells the story of author Max Zorn, now in his early 60s, is on a promotional book tour in New York when he meets up again with the woman he could never forget. They spend a weekend together. 17 years have passed. Can there be a future for their past?

The Swedish star Stellan Skarsgård (Nymphonmaniac, Marvel’s The Avengers, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) plays the author who is trying to rewrite reality.

Keep an eye on our website and social media for updates about the release.

Return to Montauk is a production by Regina Ziegler (Ziegler Film), Volker Schlöndorff (Volksfilm), Francis Boespflug and Stéphane Parthenay (Pyramide Productions/France), Sidonie Dumas (Gaumont/France) and Conor Barry (Savage Productions/Ireland).
