Kerry audiences will get a chance to see the new Irish film ‘Run & Jump’ starring Hollywood actor Will Forte and directed by Academy Award nominated Steph Green, this Wednesday 30th April when it screens at Féile na Bealtaine in Dingle.  The film, which was shot in Kerry, was co-written by Steph Green and Ailbhe Keogan who will be in attendance to take part in a post screening Q&A.  The film will then go on nationwide release this Friday, 2nd May.

Emmy-nominated Forte, who is well known for roles in the popular TV series ‘30 Rock’, ‘Saturday Night Live’ and the Oscar nominated film ‘Nebraska’ stars alongside Maxine Peake (Silk, Shameless) and Ed MacLiam (Holby City) in ‘Run & Jump’. The heart-warming film, which is Green’s feature debut, follows the spirited and impossibly optimistic Vanetia (Peake) who is slowly rebuilding the life she loved following her husband’s (MacLiam) sudden personality-changing stroke. Forte plays a buttoned-up American neuropsychologist who arrives in Ireland to stay with the family to observe Vanetia’s husband. But his continued presence in the house sets the family on course for an emotional collision.

The film has a strong supporting cast which includes Sharon Horgan (Pulling, Dead Boss), Ruth McCabe (Philomena, My Left Foot) and Michael Harding (Silence, Black Ice). Since its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival last year it has been selected for festivals across the globe and has won numerous accolades including the Best Irish Feature and Best First Feature awards at the Galway Film Fleadh and the Silver Spike award for Best Film at the Valladolid International Film Festival.

Féile na Bealtaine aspires to build on the rich tradition of arts and culture that exists on the Dingle peninsula to highlight and promote Dingle’s traditions and bilingual culture.  It’s celebrating its 20th anniversary this year with a host of events incorporating theatre, music, art, comedy and more.

‘Run & Jump’ will screen in the Phoenix, Dingle on Wednesday April 30th at 8pm.  Tickets can be purchased on the Féile na Bealtaine website.
