Strangerland to Open in Cork’s Triskel This Weekend
The thriller Strangerland starring Academy Award® winning actress Nicole Kidman (The Hours, Moulin Rouge) will open in Triskel Christchurch in Cork tomorrow Friday 12th February.
The Irish-Australian co-production which co-stars Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love) and Hugo Weaving (Matrix) sees the Parker family, new to the remote Australian desert town of Nathgari thrown into crisis when Catherine (Kidman) and Matthew (Fiennes) discover that their two teenage kids have mysteriously disappeared just before a massive dust storm hits the town. With the town now eerily smothered in red dust and darkness, the locals join the search led by local cop David Rae (Weaving). But scorching temperatures mean the chances of survival are plummeting with each passing day and Catherine and Matthew find themselves pushed to the brink as they struggle to survive the uncertainty of their children’s fate.
Directed by Kim Farrant, Strangerland had its world premiere at last year’s Sundance Film Festival and was written by Irish screenwriter Michael Kinirons together with Fiona Seres with cinematography by Irish cinematographer PJ Dillon.
