Tickets Now on Sale for Strangerland Opening Night Event at the IFI
The thriller STRANGERLAND starring Academy Award® winning actress Nicole Kidman (The Hours, Moulin Rouge) is set for its Irish cinema release on Friday 5th February. The Irish Film Institute (IFI) will be hosting an event on the opening night where the film’s producer Macdara Kelleher (Fastnet Films) and writer Michael Kinirons will be attend and take part in a post-screening Q&A. Tickets for the event are now on sale on the IFI website.
The Irish-Australian co-production which co-stars Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love) and Hugo Weaving (Matrix) sees the Parker family, new to the remote Australian desert town of Nathgari thrown into crisis when Catherine (Kidman) and Matthew (Fiennes) discover that their two teenage kids have mysteriously disappeared just before a massive dust storm hits the town. With the town now eerily smothered in red dust and darkness, the locals join the search led by local cop David Rae (Weaving). But scorching temperatures mean the chances of survival are plummeting with each passing day and Catherine and Matthew find themselves pushed to the brink as they struggle to survive the uncertainty of their children’s fate.
Directed by Kim Farrant, the film had its world premiere at last year’s Sundance Film Festival and was written by Irish screenwriter Michael Kinirons together with Fiona Seres.
STRANGERLAND will be released in cinemas across Ireland on Friday 5th February.
