The Young Offenders Gets An Honourable Mention for Best Comedy at Fantastic Fest
The Irish Box Office hit THE YOUNG OFFENDERS directed by Peter Foott was last night given an Honourable Mention for Best Comedy Film at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas where it had its international premiere earlier this week. The film’s producer Julie Ryan was at the festival and was on hand to collect the award.
The comedy which is now heading into its third week of release (fourth including previews), has held all current cinemas. With an opening today in The Phoenix, Dingle, this brings the number of cinemas showing the film this week to 69.
Inspired by Ireland’s biggest cocaine seizure of €440 million off the coast of Cork in 2007, the laugh-out-loud comedy follows two Cork inner-city teenagers, Conor and Jock, as they embark on a 160km road trip on stolen bikes in the hopes of finding an unrecovered bale of cocaine. It’s the debut feature from Peter Foott and introduces new acting talent Chris Walley and Alex Murphy in the lead roles.
THE YOUNG OFFENDERS continues to screen in cinemas nationwide this week.
