The wait is nearly over…. The eagerly anticipated cinema release of the laugh-out-loud comedy The Young Offenders is this weekend as it opens for preview screenings this Saturday and Sunday (10th and 11th September).  The film will then go on general release from Friday 16th September.

Inspired by Ireland’s biggest cocaine seizure of €440 million off the coast of Cork in 2007, The Young Offenders follows two Cork inner-city teenagers, Conor and Jock, as they embark on a 160km road trip on stolen bikes in the hopes of finding an unrecovered bale of cocaine.

The debut feature from Peter Foott will have its Dublin premiere tonight in Cineworld on Parnell Street and will be attended by its lead actors, Cork natives Chris Walley and Alex Murphy, as well as their co-stars, the well-known comedians PJ Gallagher (Naked Camera) and Hilary Rose (The Republic of Telly).

Since its world premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh in July where it picked up the Best Irish Film award it’s been receiving praise from critics and audiences alike.  The Young Offenders will open in the majority of Irish cinemas making it the widest release of an Irish film so far this year.

Previews will take place all over the country this Saturday/Sunday 10th and 11th September.  Find out what cinemas will be playing the film on our The Young Offenders page.

The film will then be released nationwide next week on Friday 16th September.
